Alternative Fee Arrangements

 
There are various factors that drive the fee arrangement that an attorney may have with a client other than fee based upon a hourly rate. For example, clients that have insufficient cash flow or who do not want to invest in litigation may seek a contingency fee arraignment. Client’s that have budgeting issues may want a “not to exceed” or “flat” fee agreement. Clients periodically offer a participation in a transaction to reduce immediate costs. Attorneys may have their own reasons for a willingness to enter into alternative fee arrangements. For example, some attorney’s may be willing to share the risk of litigation or a transaction to increase revenue, and, will accept a matter on a contingency or participation basis.
