Ms. Barnes currently services as in-house legal counsel for the Ohio Department of Corrections specializing in workers’ compensation, transitional work and safety/health issues. With 28 years of experience in employment law, she helps direct the work of special counsel, third-party administrators and managed care organizations on workers’ compensation claims. Ms. Barnes has served as an assistant attorney general for the State of Ohio in the Workers’ Compensation Litigation section and the Workers’ Compensation Fraud Unit for 10 years. Her career also includes working as in-house counsel for the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation as well as an assistant to a Commissioner for the Industrial Commission of Ohio

Ms. Barnes speaks and conducts regular training's and webinars on workers’ compensation and transitional work for human resources staff; advises staff statewide on work related issues.
