Ryan is the Director of the Consultative Council and Presidential Advisor at National Institute of Building Sciences. He also serves as director of Sustainable Buildings Industry Council at National Institute of Building Sciences. Ryan is a frequent speaker at building industry events including Greenbuild, Construct, Building Innovation and ASHRAE and AIA conventions. He previously served as manager of government affairs for ASHRAE and contributed to development of BuildingEQ, ASHRAE’s building energy labeling program. Ryan's recent publications focus on data needs for high-performance buildings, systems-based approaches to high-performance, codes and standards, and net-zero energy buildings. Ryan also serves as editor of an annual report from the building industry to the president and Congress of findings and recommendations to improve the nation’s built environment.
