Lawrence R. Ahern, III
Partner at Brown & Ahern Attorneys at Law
Brentwood, Tennessee
Larry teaches Secured Transactions at Vanderbilt and Bankruptcy Procedure in the Bankruptcy LL.M. program at St. John's. He is rewarded by helping law students master these difficult but essential materials. The rules they explore each year will govern many of their professional lives, whether in transactions, civil litigation or bankruptcy. Larry, on the other hand, learns more each year about how to communicate and listen to people working hard to deal with difficult subjects.
Larry has served as a mediator in disputes related to bankruptcy and commercial and real estate matters and as an expert witness in bankruptcy court proceedings, especially in professional liability litigation. He has represented parties in mediation and arbitration and on all sides of commercial and real estate transactions and bankruptcy-related litigation in state and federal courts. He is a Fellow of both the American College of Bankruptcy and the American College of Mortgage Attorneys, a Director of the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors and Director Emeritus of the American Board of Certification, and serves on the Advisory Board of the Bankruptcy LL.M. program at St. John's.
