Mid-Year CPE Deadlines by State

There is no uniform standard for CPE credits in the United States and instead, specific credit requirements vary by state.
However, many states have standard CPE deadlines on June 30th or July 31st.

States with June and July CPE Deadlines
The following is a list of states with CPE deadlines on June 30th or July 31st, or whose deadlines may fall on or around these dates due to special circumstances.
Arizona* CPE Requirements
Deadline: *Deadline is within 30 days of your birth month
Reporting period: 2 years
Credit requirement: 80
Specialty credit requirements:
- 4 ethics credits
- 40 hours in technical subjects (accounting, auditing, taxation, business law, or management advisory services)
- 16 hours in accounting, auditing, or taxes
- 16 hours in classroom or interactive webinar setting
California* CPE Requirements
Deadline: *Deadline is within 30 days of your birth month
Reporting period: 2 years
Credit requirement: 80
Specialty credit requirements:
- 4 ethics credits
- Government requirements: 24 hours of government CPE is required if you do planning, directing, conducting substantial portions of field work, or reporting on financial or compliance audits of a government agency
- Accounting & Auditing requirements: 24 hours of Accounting and Auditing CPE is required if you do planning, directing, approving, performing substantial portions of the work, or reporting on an audit, review, compilation, or attestation services on a non-governmental entity
- Fraud requirements: For licensees subject to Accounting & Auditing or Government CE requirements, an additional 4 hours of fraud CE related to the detection and/or reporting of fraud in financial statements is required. The fraud CE is part of the 80 hours of CE required for license renewal, but not part of the 24-hour Accounting & Auditing or Government CE requirement
- Technical requirements: A minimum of 50% (at least 40 hours) must be in technical subject areas such as accounting, auditing, taxation, consulting, financial planning, board-approved professional conduct and ethics course, computer and information technology (except for word processing), and specialized industry or government practices related to public accounting skills
Connecticut CPE Requirements
Deadline: June 30th
Reporting period: 1 year
Credit requirement: 40
Specialty credit requirements:
- 4 ethics courses in 3 years
- 8 hours in the subject area of attest or compilation services required by any individual licensee who performs or is responsible for supervising attest or compilation services or who signs or authorizes another person to sign reports on financial statements on behalf of the firm.
Delaware CPE Requirements
Deadline: June 30th
Reporting period: 2 years, odd years
Credit requirement: 80
Specialty credit requirements:
- 4 ethics credits
- 16 hours in accounting and auditing
- 16 hours in tax
Florida CPE Requirements
Deadline: June 30th
Reporting period: 2 years
Credit requirement: 80
Specialty credit requirements:
- 4 ethics credits
- 24 hours in government CPE if conducting audits controlled by the Government Auditing Standards, 2007 Revision, or the Rules of the Auditor General, Chapter 10.550.
- 20 hours in accounting-related and/or auditing-related subjects
Iowa* CPE Requirements
Deadline: *Deadline is dependent on your declared date
Reporting period: 1 year
Credit requirement: 120
Specialty credit requirements:
- 4 ethics credits
- 8 hours in accounting and auditing
Kansas CPE Requirements
Deadline: June 30th
Reporting period: 2 years
Credit requirement: 80 (minimum 16 per year)
Specialty credit requirements:
- 2 ethics credit
- 8 hours in municipal accounting and auditing if you area Licensed Municipal Accountant
Maryland* CPE Requirements
Deadline: *Deadline is the same as your date issued
Reporting period: 2 years
Credit requirement: 80
Specialty credit requirements:
- 4 ethics credits
Massachusetts CPE Requirements
Deadline: June 30th
Reporting period: 2 years
Credit requirement: 80

Michigan CPE Requirements
Deadline: June 30th
Reporting period: 2 years, odd years
Credit requirement: 80
Specialty credit requirements:
- 2 ethics credits
- 8 hours per year in accounting and auditing
Minnesota CPE Requirements
Deadline: June 30th
Reporting period: 3 years
Credit requirement: 120 (minimum 20 per year)
Specialty credit requirements:
- 8 ethics credits
Mississippi CPE Requirements
Deadline: June 30th
Reporting period: 1 year
Credit requirement: 40
Specialty credit requirements:
- 4 ethics credits
New Mexico* CPE Requirements
Deadline: *Deadline is within 30 days of your birth month
Reporting period: 3 years
Credit requirement: 120 (minimum 20 per year)
Specialty credit requirements:
- 4 ethics credits
- 96 hours in technical subjects such as audit, attestation, financial reporting, tax, management consulting, financial advisory or consulting, and other areas acceptable to the board
- 24 hours of CPE sponsored by organizations other than a licensee's firm or employer
North Dakota CPE Requirements
Deadline: June 30th
Reporting period: 1 year
Credit requirement: 120 for licensees in public practice, 60 for licensees not in public practice
Oregon CPE Requirements
Deadline: June 30th
Reporting period: 2 years
Credit requirement: 80
Specialty credit requirements:
- 4 credits in professional conduct and ethics

Reporting period: 2 years, odd years
