Architects have an important job to do. The buildings they design not only set the tone for entire communities, but they also need to be safe and reliable for generations of individuals and families. To ensure Wyoming architects are up to date on the latest building codes, safety considerations, smart home building issues, environmental rules and zoning regulations, Wyoming requires all architects to be licensed and to get continuing education in order to remain licensed in the state.
Continuing education is more important today than ever before because the field of architecture is changing so rapidly. Amalgamation, smart home technology, environmental laws and new materials and best practices change the way architects design and build. Staying aware of these and other changes not only helps architects stay compliant with laws, but also helps them stay licensed and highly qualified for their job.
Licensing Requirements in Wyoming
To remain licensed in the state of Wyoming, all architects must renew their license every two years. In order to renew a license, architects are required to take at least 24 hours of continuing education hours every license renewal period. All licensed architects must keep evidence of their continuing education hours and credits for a minimum of two years in case they are audited and must prove their compliance.
In addition, architects who are members of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) must complete Wyoming AIA courses — at least 18 hours annually — including 12 and health, safety and welfare (HSW) topics. You can take Wyoming AIA credits online or in person in order to meet state licensing requirements.
