Rhode Island CPE Requirements
CPAs and auditors in Rhode Island must complete 120 credit hours of approved continuing professional education every three-year renewal period. This mandate, based on recommendations by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), is designed to ensure all CPAs continue to serve their clients in a manner that reflects the most recent changes to state and federal laws.
Rhode Island CPE rules state that credit can be earned through qualifying live and NASBA compliant QAS Self-Study OnDemand courses. A minimum of 6.0 credit hours each reporting period must be in a subject related to ethics. At the same time, no more than 24 hours can be devoted to personal development and marketing.
