Louisiana Training Requirements
Architects in Louisiana must renew their licenses to maintain their careers. To do so, they must finish 12 hours of continuing education classes covering HSW (Health, Safety and Welfare) topics. Each year, this training must be completed by December 31st or architects will need to pay an additional late fee in addition to completing their training.
Courses and training used to fulfill the continuing education requirement must be approved forms of training, and architects must secure evidence of the completion of the training as well as proof that the training meets all requirements. This documentation must be kept for at least three years in case of an audit. In addition, architects who are AIA members must finish 18 hours of continuing education each year (including 12 HSW topic hours) to qualify for renewal of the AIA membership.
