The Institute for Supply Management’s Certified Professional in Supplier Diversity (CPSD) is a unique qualification addressing an area of growing importance in the field of supply chain management today. Supplier diversity is a proactive process that seeks to engage organizations more reflective of a broad cultural spectrum. When a supply chain is more diverse, the overall business community is healthier and more active — important benefits that contribute to an organization’s big-picture economic sustainability.
Becoming CPSD Certified
As more organizations become aware of the importance of supplier diversity credentials such as CPSD, certification will be in increasing demand among management professionals. To become CPSD certified, you must:
- Have five years of professional experience, or three years of experience and a bachelor’s degree (or higher) from a recognized institution.
- Pass the ISM Foundation of Supply Management exam, or hold the Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) credential already.
- Pass the ISM Essentials in Supplier Diversity Exam.
Once you’ve passed both exams, your CPSD certification is valid for a period of three years. In order to recertify, you must have completed 60 credit hours of approved continuing education — an essential requirement given the ever changing nature of supply management today.
