Becoming SPHR Certified
In order to become SPHR certified, you must successfully complete a three-hour multiple choice exam covering topics such as business management and strategy, workforce planning and employment, human resource development and more. The SPHR exam is open to anyone who has either:
- A Master’s degree and at least four years of experience in a professional HR role
- A Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of experience in a professional HR role
- A high school diploma and at least seven years of experience in a professional HR role
Once you have been certified, you are required to either re-take the test every three years or to complete a minimum 60 professional development credits over the course of the certification period. Of these credits, 15 must be in a topic related to business management and strategy.
