Colorado CPE Information
Continuing professional education requirements for accountants in Colorado are set by the state Board of Accountancy, which is overseen by the Department of Regulatory Agencies. In a given two-year reporting period — lasting from January 1st of an even-numbered year to December 31 of an odd-numbered year — CPAs registered with the board must complete a minimum 80 hours of applicable professional training.
Of these 80 hours, no more than 20% can be in a topic related to personal development. As per the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, personal development courses cover topics such as leadership, time management and more. As well, CPAs must also complete four hours of ethics training, of which a maximum of two should be in Colorado rules and regulations (CR&R).
