Understand the intricacies of wage and hour laws and practical steps to prevent costly litigation and government audits.
Wage and hour laws are the backbone of employment regulations, ensuring that employees are paid fairly for their time and labor. These laws govern critical aspects of employment and include minimum wage standards, overtime pay, classification of employees, and various other issues. Many of these issues are addressed in the Federal Labor Standards Act (FLSA) as well as state and local laws that enhance the FLSA. Employers do not always consider the implications of changes to job duties, pay rates and classifications. Employers are concerned with the bottom line. As a result, many of the legal issues get overlooked. In this webinar, the material will examine these complex issues and examine the method of calculating complex wage and hour compensation as well as what constitutes compensable time.
Learning Objectives
- You will be able to recognize the complex wage and hour issues that exist in a company.
- You will be able to define employee classifications and the issues that arise from misclassification.
- You will be able to identify the complexities of remote work and pay.
- You will be able to discuss issues around overtime and the court ruling.
